Sale of Hametz 2025 

On Passover, we are forbidden to not only eat ḥametz, we are also forbidden to own any ḥametz, including our everyday dishes, pots and pans, wherever it is located, including our home, office, car, and the like.

In order not to own ḥametz, we ‘sell’ our ḥametz to someone who is not Jewish.  They ‘own’ our ḥametz objects for the duration of the holiday.  We sell our ḥametz by appointing a representative of the community to be our agent to sell our ḥametz to someone who is not of the Jewish faith.

This year Cantor Shana Onigman will act as our agent to sell our ḥametz.

Since this year Passover begins on Saturday night, you have until 10am on Friday April 11th to sell your ḥametz.

In order to sell your ḥametz before Passover, please fill in the following statement and give it Cantor Onigman.

You can either fill out the form below, or you may do one of the following three options: 

• Drop it off at the synagogue on or before April 10
• Mail it to the synagogue so that it arrives before April 10  
• Email it to Cantor Shana at cantorshana@gmail.com no later than 9am Friday April 11

The sale of ḥametz is effective beginning from 10:40am Friday April 11, 2025.

Hametz becomes available for use again at 9:26 pm Sunday April 20th 2025 ( one hour after the conclusion of the holiday ).
